What makes a good website?

If you're like many business leaders, you don't have time to figure out what makes a good website and whether yours meets the criteria.

Many business leaders we've spoken to:

>> know their website is old,

>> know it doesn't look good on a phone,

>> and know the information is outdated.

Yet addressing these issues does not make it to the top of their "to do" list.

Read on to learn what makes a good website!

It needs to be responsive!
Your website needs to be easy to read and navigate – no matter what device it's viewed on.

If your website isn't phone-friendly, your company may appear outdated.

Having a modern, up-to-date website can convey that your company is ready to tackle the challenges of doing business in today's digital world.

It needs to be customer-focused!

Most people don't care if your business started in a garage 30 years ago.

What they care about is if you can help them address a business issue today.

>> Can you supply them with a needed product or service?

>> Is your business a subject matter expert in your industry?

>> Can you help them decrease time-to-market or decrease waste in their production cycle?

Make sure your website answers the top questions your potential customers are asking.

The design needs to be engaging!

Design encompasses more than color palettes and photos. It also includes the layout and how the various elements of a web page work together.

Today's website visitors scan pages rather than read through every word.

That's why it's important to serve up information in an easy-to-scan format and if images are used, they should support the content.

It needs to be optimized!

Besides functionality, messaging, and design, you also need to implement good Search Engine Optimization (SEO) practices.

Potential customers regularly research their options online before making a purchase.

This trend is expected to increase, making digital communication the cornerstone of many marketing strategies.

If you make it as easy as possible for your customers to find you, you stand a better chance of making the short list of companies they consider.
